40 people die of drug abuse in a day in Karachi

The Anti Narcotic Force, Sindh and Society for Advancement of Health & Environment (SAHEE), have launched a project in Karachi schools to lecture over 3000 students in an effort to prevent drug usage and addiction. The campaign is assisted by the representatives of Narconon, a renowned international non-profit organization that has rehabilitated over 4 hun thousand addicts over last thirty years. Narconon representatives Mr. Geoffrey Barton and Ms Agnes Alymagambetov along with Dr Humaira Aziz of SAHEE have already addressed students at DJ Science college, Karachi University, Karachi Grammar School, Saddar, Beacon House Jubilee Campus, Korangi, PAF Degree College, Share faisal, Bahria College, City School, Darkhshan, LeCole, DHA, S.K. bin Zaid College, DHA, PAF college Masroor, PACC and Dawood College of Engineering & Technology. The students were found very interested in raising awareness against the harm caused by drugs. According to certain studies the number of drug users in Pakistan is four million while 40 percent of drug users are said to experiment with drugs for first time are between the age of 15 to 22 years. In Karachi alone 40 people a day are dying of drug abuse.
